Welcome to Wonderland Avenue School!  Founded in 1926, Wonderland is a public Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) through fifth grade campus nestled in the Hollywood Hills above Los Angeles.  Our neighborhood school is for residents of the surrounding Laurel Canyon community, and our gifted magnet school, which draws students from across the city (and to which you must apply), comprise the approximately 425 students attending the school.  Our goal is to provide all students with rigorous and meaningful educational experiences that nurture their creative and intellectual capacities.   

 

We were honored with the California Distinguished School Award in 2010, and as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2016.  By all measures, Wonderland is ranked among the most effective elementary schools not only in Los Angeles, but also the state: 2024 US News and World Reports Elementary school rankings - Wonderland is #2 in LAUSD, and #16 in the state.  Using Smarter Balanced Assessment scores for ELA and Math (SBA is a standardized test that all students in grades 3-11 take across the country) to compare percentages of students who meet or exceed grade level standards across LAUSD, our combined schools rank 5th or higher in both categories since 2015!  If you pull out just our Gifted/Magnet school data, Wonderland ranks either 1st or 2nd in both categories out of the whole district every year since 2015!!
